Tycoon Andrew Tan-led global beverage-maker Emperador Inc. chalked up a net profit of P5.2 billion at end-September, up 18 percent year-on-year as higher margins boosted earnings growth.

Emperador, the world’s biggest brandy company that owns Emperador Brandy, Fundador Spanish Brandy de Jerez and luxury single malt scotch whisky The Dalmore, recorded an 11-percent increase in revenues to P30.5 billion during the period.

It was the first time for Emperador to breach the P5-billion net profit mark on its nine-month result as the company expanded its overseas footprint to new markets in Asia, Europe, North America and Latin America in recent years.

Emperador president Winston Co said: “Our performance is brought about by the sustained growth in international expansion. The premium scotch whisky business continues to show robust growth led by The Dalmore single malt whisky. The brandy business continues to perform well as well with greater penetration into North and Latin America.”

The firm’s brands are now available in 100 countries or in 350 cities across the world.

The products are also available in the United States such as in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Hawaii and Las Vegas.

“Early next year, we are to start the export of Emperador Hotshot, a cinnamon brandy, to the US market to capitalize on the growing popularity of cinnamon whiskey,” Co said.
